Six Months On
Then: Didn't do people, especially men.
Now: While he won't go out of his way to see someone, he's now quite happy to be stroked by anyone that cares to.
Then: Wouldn't come in the kitchen, even at meal time.
Now: Rattle the dog bowl and a black beast magically appears!!
Then: Didn't seem to believe that the food was for him.
Now: Empty bowl.
Then: Didn't do toys.
Now: Furry things, 'specially with a squeak. Spends ages chucking them round the room and pouncing on them. For a big dog he's amazingly agile.
Then: Didn't do games.
Now: Tug of war games, chasing games, but not fetching games. But I think that's site hound rather than Monty.
Then: Didn't do treats.
Now: Show me the pigs ears.
Then: Slightest noise would spook him.
Now: A small thermo-nuclear explosion would not disturb his slumber; again, a site hound thing.
Then: Dull coat and far away eyes.
Now: Shiny coat, and can still do the far away eyes if he thinks it's worth it.
Then: Shy, retiring, nervous.
Now: Up front, confident, happy hound.
So all in all, we now have a totally normal greyhound that seems to be happy with his lot in life.
And, it's three months since Jack arrived. He hasn't changed one bit; still waggy, smiley, loves everybody.
