Beasts Out & About

Today was a sunny (if cold when the clouds came over) day in Northampton, so it gave the chance to get some pics of the Beasts out and about on Hunsbury Hill.

Monty doing what Greyhounds do best when not slobbing

Q. Why did the Greyhound cross the track?

Kai - posing (as usual)

Monty coming up fast. He wasn't about to bite Kai - honest!!

Klepto Monty

It seems amazing that three weeks has gone by since last post. The "almost finished" work went on for another two weeks (that's because Dave and Mick did more than was first planned, plus Mick's mum ended up in hospital - bit touch and go that one).

Still, having Dave and Mick around for the extra two weeks did Monty's confidence a power of good (if not Kai's waist line); I defy anyone seeing him now to call him timid. I would like to say he lent a helping hound to the work, but the reality is that Monty's a kleptomaniac, and Mick had to constantly search for his tools in the garden that he'd put down next to him just a few minutes earlier.

We first noticed it with shoes, usually trainers; then it moved on to underwear and socks (worn, of course); then well worn T-shirts; effectively anything that smelt - horrible. Now it's cloths, rags, or anything that conveniently fits in a mouth. So if anything goes missing the first place to look is Monty's bed! Of course, butter wouldn't melt in his mouth .... except it did!!

What a Change

It's been a while since the last news, mainly due to the total disruption at home caused by the work going on the house. Luckily this is nearly finished.

So affect has this all had on the Beasts? Well Kai doesn't mind at all. The more people in the house, the more people there are to make a fuss. As for Monty, it's bought him right out of his shell. When he arrived he would not go to people, especially men. Having Dave and Mick (two good friends who happen to be builders by trade - yes I'm lucky) round for the last few weeks has done him the power of good. They both have dogs, both love Kai to bits, and have gone out their way to make a fuss of Monty. So now both the beasts make sure they are around when the sandwhich boxes get opened, and Mick being a total softy shares his lunch with them. And when Paul and Gary the plasters turned up this week, Monty had go and check them out.

All in all, over the last six weeks Monty has gone from a shy, timid dog with tail permantly between the legs, to a beast that is confident, investigates everything, affectionate to everyone, and has a very waggy tail.

And as this pic shows, he has turned into a typical slob hound.
