Jumping Through Hoops

Yesterday Rosie and me jumped through hoops - well, a hoop - ran through tunnels, went over climbing frames, weaved in and out of poles; you guessed it - we went to agility, but agility with a difference - this was agility for giant breeds. One agrees that compared to the rest of The Beastly Beasts Rosie is a big girl, but she looked positively diminutive next to Great Danes and Wolfhounds (yes - dad was drooling). We were there at the invite of Wing Commander Mortimer and when we got there Sky was there too.

Rosie and I had never done this before so we watched the others to see how it was done. Morty and Sky were really good and let their humans off the lead while they went round the course. There were three courses - two indoors and one outside. I must admit I didn't really enjoy the indoor ones as it was all a bit noisy, and I to be honest I can't really see the point of it all. Rosie on the other hand thought it was great and watched everyone doing it in eager anticipation of her turn.

The good thing is that you get a treat every time you jump or walk over or through something.

The first thing we did meant jumping over a bar, running up and over a big hill, then through a tunnel, and in and out of some poles. I thought that was OK, Rosie thought it was great fun. Next time we did a tunnel made from material that you had to push your way through - bit like putting on our jumpers.

On the second course we did there was a see-saw (which I didn't think I'd like but was OK), a long walk off the ground and a hoop to jump through.

I didn't really like the hoop - jumping is not my thing. Rosie? Loved it all and jumped straight through the hoop.

Outside was not so noisy which I liked. There was weaving and jumping which was fine. Rosie of course loved it. The best bit for me was after all the jumping when WC Mortimer, Sky and me played chasing games. Everyone thinks a lurcher shouldn't be able to keep up with a greyhound, but I get lots of practise - I think I surprised them.

Everyone was really nice to Rosie and me and I think Rosie mad a bit of an impression by being so good on her first go. She really enjoyed herself and definitely wants to do it again. Thank you to Sarah for asking us, all the nice ladies that showed us and dad what to do, and Sarah again for taking the photos. Unfortunately this one was the last session of the year but we'll be back next year.
