Me and Mack are Blood Donors

Today me and the others went owt in BeastBus, all that is 'cept Monty. Weren't sure where we were goin' like, but turned out it was to a blood drive in Kettering. All the other Beasts 'cept Mack have done this before and said was cool but I thought they was dissin' me; who wants to bleed for fun?

Mack went in first. He'd been checked owt before but was too scrawny to give blood. 'Ee's put a bit of weight on since then (still looks pretty scrawny to me) so he got to do it today. Afterwards had his photo taken for Kettering local paper like; dad said he'll see if he can get a copy.

Then Troy went and did his, then me. I don't like vets an' stuff so the idea of goin' when I direnav to didn't appeal. But Jenny and the other ladies were well nice to me and I soon started chillin' and actually it is pretty cool.

Jenny shaved a little bit of my leg and patch on me neck then rubbed some cream there that made it feel sort of numb. Then she put a needle in me leg and took a bit of blood. I thought that was it an' wondered what I'd been worried about. But then we went to another room and I got to lie down on a table. Jenny put a needle in me neck; I didn't see it 'coz dad was holding an' strokin' my head, and I didn't feel it either - 'parrently that's what the cream's for. Everyone told me I was being a good girl - just for lyin' there - if only being a good girl was always that easy. Seein' as I was being so good I thought I give the humans a wag - they liked that. Ten minutes (and 450ml of blood) later everyone told me all at once I was a really good girl so I lied on my back and wagged my tail - they liked that even more. I got a nice red bandage on my neck (dad's taken that off now - he's no fun) and some scran - I was starvin', we'd not eaten since last night an' me tummy was rumbling while I was lyin' down.

Then Kai, Lucy and Jack did there bit.

So now my blood gets tested to see what type I am (negative is dead good apparently - work that one owt!!) and to see if it's OK to use. If it is stuff gets done to it that turns it into something called plasma and red blood cells. And that means my blood can help two dogs that are ill or have been injured - wicked!!

So today me and the other Beasts spent 20 minutes each doin' sommat that could help keep up to 12 dogs alive - that is well cool and dad says he's really proud of us all.

I can only assume you're looking forward to work tomorrow for a bit of peace!!!!

Well done all, and delighted to hear both Rosie and Mack are in the blood donor crowd too.
