On Sa'urday me, Kai, Jack an' 'Ooch went into to Norfamp'on town centre. We was goin' to see Josie an' her mum an' dad wot was 'elpin' wiv the Northants Greyhound Rescue collection, but by the time we got there they'd gone 'ome. 'Parrently they was there dead early and stayed all mornin'. And it was a bit brassy, so they'd gone 'ome to warm their cockles - can't blame 'em can ya.

So we didn't know no-one an' 'ad to introduce ourselves. They was all really nice to us and made us welcome so we 'ung on for a bit to 'elp out like - as you do. Mind you, one of the ladies said last year some geezer turned up wiv some 'ounds then tried makin' off with the collectin' tins - *****y lowlife - I wouldn't lean on 'im.

Anyway, Jack an' 'Ooch went off wiv a couple of ladies wot 'ad tins but no 'ounds, and me an' Kai did our bit wiv dad. I love these fings, plenty of punters to lean on. An' there was a bit 'ob-nobbin' goin' on too; Jaye Griffiths wot is on the telly - she's been in The Bill, Bugs, Doctors and loads of uvver stuff - woz there an' me an 'er got on all right; I'll let you to decide 'oo woz 'ob-nobbin' wiv 'oo.

I reckon we stayed about an hour then we 'ad to go so the uvvers got a walk. 'Opefully we might see some of the people there at out bash on the 22nd Dec at Pets at Home up at Riverside.

We 'eard from Josie's mum that they raised £989.37, wot by my reckonin' is totally amazin'.

But 'ere's the rub. Mandy, the lady wot runs NGR, went to a race track that evenin' - 'Ounslow we think - where two hounds woz injured racin'; one 'ad a shattered hock. 'Course if that 'appens the trainer ain't goin' to pay to 'ave it fixed, even if it goes all right you ain't gonna run as fast are ya, an' more often than not the 'ounds is brown bread by next mornin'.

These two got lucky an' next mornin' they are wiv Mandy 'oo will now cop a bill for about a grand to fix the one wiv the shattered 'ock. So one days collectin' pays for one dog to get better.

'Course it's worf it, but kinda puts in perspective dunnit?
