November White Lodge Walk

Hi there, it's Hooch. Back in July I wrote my first blog fully expecting it to be my last; how wrong can one be. As Lucy said, I am spending a couple of weeks back with The Beastly Beasts while my mum and dad go to see their puppy's puppy in America - apparently that's some distance away. One has to say that it's pretty spiffy to spend time with them again and to meet Mack - he's good chap, and Rosie - rugby league lass, not union, if you know what I mean.

Yesterday we went on the White Lodge walk at Beacon Hill. It was a lovely day and great to see some old friends again, one of whom was Wing Commander Mortimer. Here he is saying hello to Lester who might have gone to stay with The Beastly Beasts instead of Lucy and me had he been a bit more relaxed about things. He was going to be rehomed with Dalby at one time, but he is now relaxed about things and happily living with Jess, and I'm happy on my own; funny how things work out.

Mack went off with Jasper - apparently this is becoming somewhat of a regular thing according to the others. One has to say they do seem to get on rather well together.

Jack and I had the exquisite pleasure of looking after a couple of human puppies, Alice and Glen respectively. They actually belong to Greg - you may remember Greg came to Salcey Forest (hope to get over there while I'm stopping with The Beasts) in May when we raised some money for Greyhound Gap; he had his two main humans to look after so I think he was glad for the help.

We didn't see much of the other Beasts until we got to the top of the hill. And when we got there we found out why we were wearing our jumpers - yes, even I had one - it was rather chilly. Have to say I rather like them as they fit better than most coats and look rather splendid. I'll have to try and persuade my mum and dad and see if I can have one for Christmas.

We weren't the only beasts on the top of the hill yesterday and apparently Jasper's mum was all for turning round and heading back the way we had come and would have done were it not for Jasper and Mack providing moral support; well done chaps. Lucy told me later that Kai and Rosie weren't too keen on the cows either.

All too quickly it was time to head down to the car park, where dad took a couple of shnoz pics of WC Mortimer and Sol. Some things don't change though and there were plenty of treats on offer.

I really enjoyed myself, seeing old friends, looking after Glen, and going out with lots of other hounds. I'll be back home in a couple of weeks so I doubt I'll be on the next one, but hopefully I'll see many of the hounds and humans again soon.

Take care,
Hooch

'twas indeed a magnificent day. A joy to walk with Mack and be leant on by Troy. Rosie seems to be developing a good leaning tendancy too!! Quite a lady is Rosie - and she is learning from the best. This must have been one of the most dispersed Beast trips for a while. Great to see them all and also hear that Monty is on the mend
See you soon - Jasper

A great walk was had by all. Morty thoroughly enjoyed seeing his mates (and of course Rosie) again, as did Annie and Ruby. What a great way to spend a sunday afternoon.
