Northants Greyhound Gala
ReferenceAnyway, couple of weekends back we all went to the Northants Gala at Towcester Racecourse; that's just down the road from us. We wore our new collars from Laura and loads of people said we looked really good in them.
The Gala, loike all these events, had a dog show and shops; we went in for a few of the classes loike and Monty got a new coat from one of the shops. But Oi'm getting ahead of myself.
When we first arrived we went to find Aunty Ann and Uncle Norman. Turned out Uncle Norman was being dead important for the day by doin' all the announcements. And we met Curly who had arroived a whoile back to help Josie look after them.
Seemed where ever we went everyone stopped and looked at us and loads of people stopped dad and asked how he walked seven hounds together and we got our photo's took by a few, and really nice chap called Mike sent us some of the pics he took; here's all of us (you can just see Troy's nose).

The Beastly Beasts
Then we had a wander round the shops and one lady stopped us to ask about looking after greyhounds. Guess she decoided mum and dad must know something seein' as there's a gang of us. Anyway, we saw her later on and she said she was definitely going to give a hound a home - glad we didn't put her off.
Then it was toime for the action and Oi was up first in the class for my age group. Oi don't want to rub it in loike, but Oi set the standard for the day by winning me class.

Me in my Class
Sad to say that apart from Kai in Handsomest Dog, and that wasn't a proper class that meant you could go on to best in show loike mine did, no-one won any of their classes. Still, here's a thing; everyone got a rosette that matched the colour of their collar; how spooky was that? Jack got a third and Troy a second, Lucy got a special in her class and Rosie got a third.

Lucy in her Class
Lucy had a bit of competition from Josie in the girls ring. 'Coz this was being done proper you 'ad ta run around a bit. 'cept Josie didn't exactly run, bur'er mum did!!

Then it was toime for me to go into the Best Dog in Show. Well, Oi didn't stand much of a chance really; the judge chose between two other hounds that do the shows all the time loike. Still, have to say that they did look good.

Me in the Best Dog In Show
We went off to say our goodbyes and dad said to Mandy - the lady that runs Northants Greyhound Rescue (she came along to the walk in Salcey Forest the other week) - that we'd go and help with their Meet and Greet in Northampton. Mandy said that would be great but to make sure that "proper dog" came along - by which she meant Rosie who she seems have a bit of a soft spot for.

Monty having a chat with Rosie
We had a great day and I was dead chuffed to have won my class. And it was brilliant to be around and meet so many other hounds and their humans.
