BeastBlog Posts

We've been having a some problems with BeastBlog over the last few weeks, which has meant our posts haven't been getting on the blog since Christmas. We've sorted it now, so everything from Christmas onwards is there to be read.

Thanks for your understanding and support.

First White Lodge Walk for 2008

Today was the first White Lodge Walk for 2008. We went to what is one of our favourite places - Beacon Hill.

As dad was driving up the M1 we did wonder why we were going; it was chucking it down - we could hear it on the roof of the BeastBus sometimes, and it was really gray and horrible when we left home.

At Beacon Hill it as still a bit gray, but it wasn't raining. White we were waiting for everyone to turn up - and more people than any of us thought did - we met a really nice lady who stopped to have a chat. One of her puppies was called Cai - said just like our Kai. Here's Cai and Kai.

We didn't spend to much time of the top of the hill as it was a bit cold and windy, but as you can see, there was quite a few people there with their humans.

Back down the bottom of the hill we got chatting with the lady who now looks after White Lodge - Gill. And the really good news is that Gill is looking to continue with the rescue side of White Lodge. We had a really long chat about greyhoundy things. If Gill wants we'll help where we can.

So that's a nice start to 2008.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all our readers and supporters.

Thank you to everyone that bought anything from VetUK, or signed up with easyfundraising, or used easysearch, or got a Greyt Sweater. Last year we sent money to Greyhound Gap and Tailends, and we will be able to make another donation to help some hounds very soon.

With your help we hope to raise even more money for hounds that need help in 2008, and we've got some new ideas how we can do that.

It's our wish that 2008 will be everything you want it to be.

New Year Day Walk

'Appy New Year and welcome to 2008. It's well good this time of year - if your in a decent gaff that is; great food, the 'umans are around for days on end to look after yer like they should, and lotsa balls o' chalk wiv all yer mates. An' today it was Ratby Burrows.

An wot do ya know - we ain't seen em for mumfs and then it's free times in short orda - Tom, Cheese, Linus and Lettice (fancy French name that innit?) are there and we was only out wiv 'em a few days ago. Not that's a bad thing mind, don't get me wrong. Course, that meant Colin and Lynne and Jackie was there, and it took Jackie almost moments before she asked Kai if he'd walk 'er.

So off we goes. Wing Commander Mortimer was there an' he was 'avin' a ball chargin' up and down.

Like I said, Tom, Cheese, Linus and Lettice was there today an' all. Bin a while since they was out on one of these doos, but there was a reason. We 'elped out at the Meet and Greet at Syston just before Christmas. That was sorted by Jackie. You might remember she 'ad a girl called Vicky stayin' wiv 'er. Well, Vicky has turned into to Molly and now lives with Suggs.

This is Mavis. Mavis is one them girls wot is always on the go and a right stunna into the bargin; if I was a younger 'ound ...

Mavis looks after a couple of 'umans and their puppy. I don't know if you've clocked this, but 'uman puppies can't walk and 'ave to be carted round in single seater sofas wiv wheels - push chairs thet call 'em. That's all fine and dandy until get to a ditch wiv a bridge wot aint as wide. Then it 'as to turn into a carry chair, and yes, the 'uman puppy was still in it.

We also 'ad some people join us wot 'ad just been picked by a grey'ound. Jack took their puppy for a walk; 'ee likes doing that.

All us Beastly Beasts was busy lookin' after mum and dad, but Suggs and Molly reckon they can leave their 'umans. And Mortimer reckoned 'ee could leave 'is mum to Ruby. So when we met another couple of dogs wot was up for a chase they all went for it. Molly bashed 'erself on a tree, and Mortimer 'ad a good ol' run wiv one of them.

Excitement over it was back to the car park and loads of treats before heading 'ome for our tea.
