Blood doning Beasts

On Saturday something happened that had never happened before - all of us Beastly Beasts gave blood at the same session; Jack missed out first time we did, and I missed out on loads of sessions 'coz of my ALT levels and then 'coz of my leg.

We went over to Celtic Cross Vet Centre at Corby to do our donations. When we got there some people from a local radio station - Northants 96 - were there and took pics of some of us, and we are on their web site (we're the last two pics); how cool is that?

Another thing that's cool is how many donors Pet Blood Bank have now they have going for a year; over 400.

Each donation helps up to four dogs, so we might help up to 28 dogs with our donations; and that makes us feel quite proud. If you want to feel proud chances are you can donate too. Honest, it's dead easy and you get treats for lying down for 10 minutes.

6 Months at Beast Barracks

Can you believe it? Six months already. And let me tell you, it's been quite an eventful six months.

I remember when I first met Kai and Monty, dog - was I a bitch? There they were just standing there and I jumped on poor old Kai. Still, we we sort of made up like when we went for walk.

I spent a couple of nights on my own, then Kai and Monty came back with the rest of The Beasts. I decided I'd be on me best behaviour so as to impress like; nearly made it. Here's me with them all that day.

We call where we live Beast Barracks, but it's not really. Some things are dead strict - like no jumping, no counter surfing, no stealing each others food, stuff like that, and (this is the big one) no trying for the top spot; after that it's a pretty chilled out place, foods pretty good, walks are well wicked, and it seems we're always up to something.

So, what have I/we been up to in six months? Lots.

First thing was the Greyhound Gap show where we sold Laney's Greyt Sweaters. I've got one of my own - even though I'm a not greyhound shaped.

Soon after that we went on holiday. That was well good. We went to the beach, played in the fields, and I fancied Waljan.

Then we went on what turned out to be a bit of a regular thing - the White Lodge Walk.

Kai and me went to an agility class with big dogs. Kai didn't enjoy it much; me - I loved it. There were things to jump over, walk on, run through, jump through - well wicked. And I became a blood donor. That's something we all do and encourage everyhound that can to do - seems it's actually good for you, and you get to help up to four hounds each time; neat.

Next was doing what The Beastly Beasts do - helping hounds, and I got meet lots more friends; we went to Coventry to help raise money for Greyhound Gap with Rory and his friends.

We also did one at Syston were we helped out Tom and Cheese. Then we did one of our own. I like these Meet and Greets; you get stroked and hugged by loads of people. Me, Mack and Troy had a competition to see how many people we could get.

Then it was Christmas when had loads and loads and loads of presents and some of them were for me.

We've been on lots of walks with lots of friends, and everyone has been so nice to me, but I think the nicest of everyone was Bronwyn when we went to Wimpole Hall.

So I've had a great six months and really enjoy being with The Beastly Beasts; as I think these pics show.

Wimpole Hall Walk

Reference
Last week we went for a walk at Wimpole Hall in Cambridgeshire. Our mates Mickey an' Patch was there, and someone wot we 'adn't seen for ages - a lady called Helen. She was really nice to me and let me talk to 'er Jack Russell at the White Lodge Show. If you do take a look at that you'll see me 'avin' a lean on Bronwyn - Helen's daughter; more on 'er in a bit. There was loads of uvvers too, and all in all we 'ad 15 'ounds out for a wander, 'an nearly as many 'umans, though some of them were puppies.

So this 'ere 'all, why go there? Well, for a start it's an 'arf decent gaff.

The gardens are pretty big an' all, and according to dad they was done in part by a Mr. Brown 'ooo by all accounts was a very capable geezer.

That, I s'pose, is all very interesting, but from our point of view there was sheep what meant there was plenty to sniff, if you get my drift.

So we set off, Me, Kia, Lucy, Mack an' Rosie went wiv dad, and Monty an' Jack went wiv mum. Like I say, the gardens are huge. We walked all the way round to the back garden, then to the lake, then up the 'ill to a funny lookin' buildin' then back to the 'all; course, it took a bit longer to walk it than say it.

On the way round a fair few people stopped us and asked what so many grey'ounds was doin' in one place - so we told 'em like. And o'course we let the little 'umans 'ave a stroke - tough job, but someone's gotta do it.

It was a fair old walk, and took us over an hour. At the end there was a cafe so the 'umans could have a sit down an' a cuppa. Dad 'ad loads of liver cake - 'ee's top draw somtimes, and I reckon he was everyhounds favourite 'uman while there was still some in the bag.

Now, I mentioned Bronwyn earlier on. She said she likes grey'ounds - just as well seeing as lives with free - but she really liked small dogs and really really liked big dogs, and so really really liked Rosie; as this pic shows.

It was great seein' old friends again and catchin' up on stuff, and meetin' new ones. And we would love to go to Wimpole Hall again.
